Product of the Week

Tinted Elta MD Skincare. This is a UV Clear Broad – Spectrum Sunscreen with SPF 46. It says it calms and protects acne-prone skin. It provides UVA/UVB Protection, and is okay to use with skin types prone to acne, rosacea and hyper pigmentation.

My skin is very sensitive, so my dermatologist recommended this to me. They sold it at their office, so it was very convenient for me to purchase it. I have been using it for almost half a year, every single day, and I LOVE IT!!!

I lately haven’t been wearing any makeup, and just putting this on instead. It gives a great tint to your skin, and that is really all I want right now. I tend to never have any imperfections anymore, so this is really all I need. I highly recommend this product!

This product costs $19.99 from The Beauty Place, which is the cheapest I could find it. I think this is a great deal on a protective sunscreen that also helps out your complexion without you having to wear any makeup!

A Product to Swear By!

Ponds Dry Skin Cream

I have been using this product on and off for a few years, but for the past few months I have been using it every day and night as my only moisturizer. This product really transforms your skin into the silky, hydrated type of skin that you have always dreamed about. It doesn’t say that it is oil free, but it does say that it won’t clog pores. This made me a little nervous, but I have noticed a dramatically fantastic difference in my skin. It can range from $6.97 – $7.99, and comes in a 10.1 oz jar, which is a lot for a moisturizer.

How I Apply It

I used to apply it just by slathering it on my face and rubbing it in. But I watched a video by GiGi Gorgeous, and she was told that you should pat in your moisturizer. I tried patting in my moisturizer, and automatically saw a difference. You might feel silly doing this, but I now swear by this method. My skin has never looked this clear and I am so thankful for this product and my new method of application!

Ways to Wash Out Hair Color

By Viki Howell

Description: Use these household items to fade unwanted hair color!

Sometimes we have neither time, nor finances to go to a hair salon to fix hair dyeing mistakes. Here are three ways to remove hair color. Proceed with caution!

  1. Vitamin C

Crush a bunch of vitamin C tablets and add them to your favorite shampoo. You can use an anti-dandruff shampoo for better results. It helps to remove pastel colors gradually or get rid of the unsightly shade. Vitamin C is proven to help with semi-permanent and even permanent hair dyes. Apply the mixture to your hair and let it sit for an hour. It would be better to cover your hair with a shower cap. The warmth from your scalp will speed up the process. Rinse the lather out with warm water and condition. Like any other color removing treatment, it can be very drying to your hair. We would not recommend using this technique if you a not so lucky owner of the sensitive scalp.

  1. Laundry Detergent

Some people turn to the laundry detergent when they need to remove their hair color. Add 1 tbs of the simple detergent at the wet hair and massage it in. We suggest you find a non-bleaching product. You should not put it on your scalp even if you think it will speed up the process. We don’t believe this way to be worth the risk of damaging your hair but try it out at your own risk if nothing else works. We suggest you just go to a professional.

  1. Dishwashing Soap

Like the laundry detergent, dishwashing soap can be used to strip the hair color from natural hair. Mix ¼ of the shampoo with ¾ of the dishwashing liquid and lather your hair. Let it sit for 20 or so minutes and rinse it out. Take note that just like laundry detergent, this particular household item has harsh chemicals, which are not supposed to be applied to your skin. This way of removing hair color is extremely drying and can be damaging to your general health as well as the health of your hair.

Take note of these ways from to remove hair color at home and use them at your own risk!

Hacks for Oily Hair

By Viki Howell

Use these tips to reduce the oiliness of your hair!

Check out these easy ways to make your hair look fresh and clean!

  1. Avoid Applying Conditioner To The Roots

Stop conditioning your hair all the way up to your roots. It weighs your hair down and makes it appear greasier. Shampoo the roots only and apply your conditioner from tips of your hair to mid-shaft for lighter and more voluminous hair. This simple hack will help your hair to look amazing without having to go to Hair Salons in NY.

  1. Lay Off Shampooing

Believe it or not, but washing your hair less will actually help if you have naturally oily hair. The more you shampoo, the more oil produces your scalp. Try washing your hair twice a week at most and you’ll see the difference after some time. Use dry shampoo to freshen up the roots and give your mane some volume. It will not trigger the production of oil and will keep your scalp clean-looking.

  1. Use Hand Sanitizer Instead Of Dry Shampoo

This hack will not give you additional volume, but will leave your scalp fresh and clean. Squeeze a small amount of hand sanitizer on the palm of your hand. Proceed to rub it between your fingers and apply to the roots. Make sure you don’t use too much because the alcohol will dry out both your hair and scalp.

  1. Stop Touching Your Hair

Try to get rid of the bad habit of touching your hair when feeling nervous, scared, or flirtatious. The contact between skin and hair results in more oil and dirt. Make sure you always tie your hair away from your face when at home.

A “Natural” Glow

I was recently shopping at the drug store, and spotted this beautiful bottle. The product is Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived Body Lotion. There are two shades for Fair to Medium skin tones and then Medium to Dark skin tones. At first glance, the tub is very attractive. It is gold and shiny and sleek, just how we all want to be!

I used the Fair to Medium bottle. I have used it a few times and love it. It doesn’t have a harsh smell and leaves your skin glowing. It also very slowly builds up color, so you don’t have to worry that overnight you are going to be five shades darker.

This was 6.99 pounds, but is now 3.49 with a sale going on at Boots. What is sad is I don’t think this product is sold in America 😦

Hopefully Dove brings this product to America, because I would absolutely purchase this product again.

Florals for Spring can be Groundbreaking

I am pleased to introduce the Gucci Runway GG Blooms Mini Chain Bag. This is my first real designer bag, and I feel honored to own it. I bought it in Milan and am proud that I did. I feel like this bag has a story behind it. Not only is it beautiful, I bought it when I was studying abroad with my friends and we were on our spring break in Italy.

This bag is a special collection bag designed by Creative director Alessandro Michele. I will provide the link to the bag at the bottom of the blog. DSCF8054

This bag honestly photographs so well. The florals are so bright, they instantly brighten up any outfit.IMG_8148IMG_8149

This was the gorgeous packaging that this bag came in. I loved the box so much that I kept it, along with the bag cover of course.

This bag is honestly great. It has credit card slots, so you can fit a bunch of them in this bag, as well as your phone and cash. This bag cost $780, but I think it was worth it. Not only is it beautiful, but it is made incredibly well. The leather is water proof and durable, and it is also a limited edition. I have wanted a designer bag for so long, and even though this might seem a bit steep, I think it was well worth it. I have worn this bag as a cross body, shoulder bag, and clutch. It does it all, and it does it beautifully. I can’t wait to wear this bag in the summer.
